CAPITAL CITY, Perth’s finest exponents of swamp-rock rhythm and blues are back in the proverbial house after a year away from the live scene. With founding members Sam Scherr and Chris Pierucci spending the bulk of the last year in the UK, the time has come to regroup, focus and recruit drummer No. 5, Jake Snell.
For those who came in late to the whole Capital City story, this Australian band, fronted by an Israeli-born, Washington-raised Western Australian-based ball of energy, started in Perth in 2000. Their first EP “The God-Botherin’ Years”, received great suppose from public radio and demon sales from the public. This release saw them tour nationally with Aussie garage rock legends The Stems on their re-union tour at the start of 2003.
The second EP "Capital City vs The Bangkok Lady Boys" was another kick-ass collection of tracks, this time celebrating love, life, hate, death and Thai dudes who decide to the contrary. More east coast touring and even Triple J rotation ensued. Along this ride the band supported the likes of Boss Hog, The Datsuns, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, McLusky and The Strokes plus fellow Aussies such as Magic Dirt, The Meanies, Rocket Science, Sixfthick, The Tremors & You Am I.
